Our Story
Portsmouth Soap Company began the way many great local businesses do — with a small idea, a lot of heart, and a deep love for the Seacoast.
As a nurse for 36 years, a mom, and a longtime Girl Scout leader, I’ve always believed that what we put on our bodies matters. When I learned to make soap from scratch, I fell in love with the process and the power of simple, high‑quality ingredients. That passion grew into a mission: to create healthy, joyful bath products that nourish your skin and honor the natural beauty of our coastal home.

Meet the Family behind the Suds
Today, Portsmouth Soap Company continues to bring together small‑batch craftsmanship, responsible sourcing, and a whole lot of creativity. Our shop is a place to explore, discover new favorites, and find gifts that make people smile.
I make many of our soaps and bath products by hand and collaborate with other talented makers to keep our selection fresh and inspiring. My husband, Ken, brings his expertise in finance and operations to keep our shop running smoothly. Our daughter, Norah, is our go‑to product tester and social media voice, keeping us connected with our community. Our small but mighty sales crew help shape our messaging, brainstorm new ideas, and keep positive energy flowing.
And of course, there’s Logan — our Aussie Labradoodle and official tester of all things pup‑related. When he’s not evaluating our pet products, you’ll find him happily chasing his ball at Hislop Park.
Our designs, photography, product labeling, website, interiors and all aspects of our company are the result of local designers and artists who were chosen for their creative approach and helped to keep the flavor of Portsmouth in everything we do.

Doing good by doing well has always been at the heart of our business. Each quarter, we donate a portion of our sales to a Seacoast nonprofit whose work inspires us — from supporting children and families to protecting animals, the environment, Food Banks, and the Arts. We’re proud to support organizations like Girls Inc. NH and Prescott Park, along with many others over the years. If you know a local nonprofit doing meaningful work, we’d love to hear about them.
