Every Face Deserves a Face Mask
Businesses, restaurants and other organizations are in need of face masks, in order to open during the Covid-19 pandemic and adhere to safety guidelines for the benefit of customers and staff. Portsmouth Soap Company and Kennedy Gallery have teamed up to help distribute cloth masks to local businesses and employees of the Seacoast. Masks are free of charge, courtesy of the Seacoast Mask Makers. Visit www.seacoastmaskmakers.org to learn how you can help or to see the real time tally of where they stand. As of this writing, the group of dedicated sewers has made 46,000 masks in order to help 285 organizations such as nursing homes, grocery stores, restaurants, hospitals and many essential businesses. Simply contact us if your group or business can use masks made of 100% cotton.
Only need a few masks for personal use? You’ll find decorative face masks sewn by our friends and family right here at Portsmouth Soap Company. These are non-medical cloth face masks with ties, made of polka dot or floral cotton and sell for $5. All of the proceeds from sales of these masks in May and June are going to Black Heritage Trail New Hampshire. There’s no reason to be without face covering, at home or at work, and we can even appeal to your designer side with these decorative masks.

Proceeds to support Black Heritage Trail of NH Known as “Juneteenth,” June 19th is the oldest known nationally-celebrated event commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. The Black Heritage Trail of NH (BHTNH) is an organization that promotes appreciation of African American history and supports inclusivity in our community. They have put together a virtual celebration here in Portsmouth to commemorate Juneteenth, 2020. Meet Alex and Jenny Corbett and Our New Beard Soap Alex, his wife Jenny and mini-poodle live in Hampton, NH and are frequent visitors to the Portsmouth Soap Company. On one visit, Alex, a NH native who is recently returned from Chicago and works in the barber industry, asked if we carried beard soaps. We said no, not at that time, but were willing to try, if he was willing to become a tester! Now we offer beard soap, beard oil — and we created a Beard Soap Set just in time for Father’s Day. Hello Portsmouth Soap company!
This is Alex – you recently dropped off a beard soap for me to test out. I LOVED it. The moisturizing qualities have been great for my coarse, curly hair and my skin is feeling fresh. The soap lathers nicely and is easily stored. Your product is very different from other beard soaps on the market and I love that about it. My only feedback is that I was looking for a stronger fragrance. Having an unscented or lightly scented product is essential, because some men really don’t want to smell their soaps. I, on the other hand, love a nice woodsy aroma. Maybe a cedarwood or sandalwood. Careful! You can’t go wrong with some citrus such as a bergamot or a lime/sage combo.
I just wanted to say thank you again so much for allowing me to test out your newly developed product. My wife and I are big fans of your shop and we love supporting local.

School’s Out! Time to Head for the Beach!
Like many parents, we are so grateful for the creativity and dedication of our Seacoast teachers, and praise the patience and resilience of local students of all grades in coming together to prevail despite the need for virtual school attendance. Some of you have attended virtual graduations, and we believe many schools have done an amazing job at making the day a memorable one, while practicing social distancing. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
With June 20th approaching, the official First Day of Summer, we hope you’ll all take time to enjoy a much-needed break. Doesn’t a Beach day sound pretty enticing right about now?
